A good day in New Zealand for Photography!

Marcus Williams and Susan Jowsey have won the annual 2009 Wallace Art Awards with their photographic dyptich: The Correction.

Wallace Trust Paramount Award winner ‘The Correction’, Photographic Diptych, 600 x 1500mm. By Marcus Williams and Susan Jowsey.

The Award includes a six month residency at the International Studio and Curatorial Programme in New York, plus a bronze trophy by Terry Stringer.

I recently met Marcus when he came down to mark an MFA exam with me at the School of Art, Otago Polytechic and locals may know him as half of the curatorial partnership that developed the I Was Russia exhibition that is currently on show at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery.

He is an intelligent and articulate person, and I would just love to say Congratulations! Great Work!

I was just checking my new blog was showing up in the browser when I found this – thanks and I’ll show it to Marcus we have our blog with wordpress but it’s tricky because jowsey and williams are joined so search engines can seem to search under either of our names until I organise a proper domain.
    check it out.

they are a mixture of both – The Sleeper is a large format negative, some images are also taken [such as The Correction] on a Hasselblad with an Imacon digital back, others are taken with a Mamiya [a really old one!]
