Why all the outrage when the likes of Emin or Damien Hirst do silly things? Artists are meant to be different. (Jonathan Jones)

I’ve been following the British press over the latest outrage on what “Tracey did next…” and finally, someone in the press (Jonathan Jones in the guardian.co.uk blog) has said something that makes sense! Snippet below, but please do read the full article…some good food for thought…

What a silly thing she said – but how puritan and humourless and naive the outraged public response. It is, I think, indicative of what has gone wrong with the reception of art in Britain. Artists are now – if they choose to play along – mainstream celebrities. A lot of people therefore think they “know” Emin, and are shocked to find she’s not one of us at all. Read Full Post Here

  1. tracy emin represents the self indulgent talentless vermin that occupy this fine island of ours.
    i say let her go. artist are supposed to be different yes, but artists are also supposed to be judged.
    She deserves every insult she gets.
