What a wonderfully dark and creepy film, beautifully made with a hint of Von Trier’s Melancholia, yet a beast all of its own. Good on the National Gallery for both including contemporary work alongside the Titians in their latest exhibition and for presenting this beautiful contemporary film as an advert for the whole show, which brings the contemporary and art historic together beautifully.
Titled Metamorphosis, the film is inspired by Titian’s famous paintings Diana and Actaeon and The Death of Actaeon (which can both be seen in the exhibition) and stars Anna Friel as the goddess.
