Hi! Welcome to my website.
Rachel K Gillies is an artist, educator and writer. She is currently Senior Lecturer in Photography at the University of Brighton, UK and previously Senior Lecturer and Course Co-ordinator of Photography at Dunedin School of Art, NZ. Her practice engages with contemporary photography as it responds to digital process and visual communication.
Recent work includes the exhibition The Realm of Lost Virtualities exhibited at the Brighton Photo Fringe in 2014, and the chapter ‘Mobile Photography’ in the forthcoming (2017) Companion to Photography (Stephen Bull, ed.) Wiley and Blackwell.
I am also engaged in photographic practices outside of ‘research and academia’ having worked with various art galleries throughout my career, such as Stills: Scotland’s Centre for Photography and volunteering on the boards of The Blue Oyster and most recently Brighton Photo Fringe.
Please get in touch if you want to know more and feel free to have a look around this site for examples of my work.
